Whilst updating my Linked-In profile a few moments ago I was delighted to read the following recommendation posted by former client, Simon Burgess:

…now that’s Magic!
I have been rather preoccupied of late…
On 12th September my wife gave birth to a second beautiful baby son, Edward. With a 20 month old and a 2 month old, life in the Hudson household has been incredibly busy; yet in between nappy changes and midnight feeds (yes, I get up, too), I have managed to squeeze in a few adult and family magic shows to earn some much needed pennies to pay for my rapidly growing family. Following are a few “thank yous” from some of those bookings:

Family Magician at Yattendon Estate
“The Yattendon Estate in Berkshire is the amalgamation of several smaller estates acquired by the first Lord Iliffe between 1925 and 1940. Over the summer I was very pleased to entertain families who live and work on the estate at a family fun evening arranged by the Estate Manager. I was also very pleased to receive the following testimonial:

Magical Heroes – Part 2
I am often asked questions about how I became interested in magic and whether I enjoyed it as a child. I particularly remember watching Wayne Dobson perform on television in the late eighties and nineties. You may recall his first appearance on the 1989 Royal Variety Show when he had the audience in fits of laughter with his hilarious routine assisted by Frank Bruno and Harry Carpenter. Combining ventriloquism alongside magic grabbed my attention. As a budding entertainer myself, I found the mild irreverence highly amusing. (more…)

Wedding Magician at Old Luxters Barn
I had great fun last Saturday afternoon entertaining for the Shearing family at their wedding reception held at Old Luxters Barn in Oxfordshire. It is a stunning venue and I was delighted to be invited by the bride to perform magic as a surprise for her new husband and their children. I have met all the family several times over the years performing both close-up and children’s magic for them.

Magical Heroes – Part 1
On a recent visit to The Magic Circle Headquarters in London, I had the huge priviledge of hearing International Man of Mystery: Magician/Hypnotist/Mentalist, David Berglas speak about his life in magic. Thought of as one of the world’s leading mentalists and one of the first magicians to appear on British television, I was captivated as he shared wonderful stories about his lifetime in magic. These varied tales included anecdotes of performances for Winston Churchill to The Rolling Stones and acting as Creative Consultant on numerous major films; working with legendary directors, including: Tim Burton, George Lucas and Stanley Kubrick. However, as a huge James Bond fan, I am most in awe of his involvement in five of the movies. After enthralling his audience with these amzing stories, David then took questions. Afterwards he joined his fellow magicians for a drink in The Magic Circle bar.

Close-up Magician at a Garden Party
I was delighted to be asked to perform an hour of close-up magic for Dan and Jo at their home in Earley, Bershire. The weather was certainly on their side and guests were able to mingle in the garden, enjoying the late Spring sunshine.
Dan was kind enough to email the following message and sequence of photographs:

Magician at a Fancy Dress Party
Recently I performed 90 minutes of Close-up magic and a 30 minute Caberet show at a 50th birthday party in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The fancy dress event was a great deal of fun and I was delighted to receive the following testimonial and fun sequence of photographs from the birthday girl’s husband:

Magician at PTA Spring Ball
A couple of weekends ago I was invited to perform close-up magic at a Spring Ball. St Paul’s Junior School PTA booked Sandmartin’s Golf Club in Wokingham for their fund-raising gala. It is always a pleasure to be invited to such events as I know how proactively and tirelessly PTAs work to raise funds for their schools. PTA members and guests alike share an interest in the success of such events as they know that in the end funds raised will directly benefit their children, ensuring a great atmosphere and fun time is had by all. I am happy to say that I received the following email of thanks from one of the event organisers:
“Thank you so much for coming to our Ball on Friday evening. I just wanted to let you know that we have had brilliant feedback, and everybody’s highlight of the evening was YOU! The only negative comment was that you weren’t there long enough. Thanks again. Karen G.”
I have a few more school PTA fund-raising events throughout June and July to look forward to.
